The Place of Refreshing

OUR STORY

A Place of Refreshing

Exodus 15:27 - After leaving Marah, the Israelites travelled on to the oasis of Elim where they found twelve springs and seventy palm trees, they camped there beside the water.

This scripture is the foundation of our name and the heartbeat of our calling. For more than 30 years — first as Elim Tabernacle and now as Refresh Church — we have been graced to stand as an oasis, a place of refreshing.

From small, humble prayer gatherings in 1978 to the vibrant and growing movement we are today, each generation has faithfully carried the same flame: to become a well of living refreshment in a weary and thirsty world.

OUR HISTORY

A Legacy of Faith

Refresh Church is a life-giving, Bible-centered church committed to advancing the mandate of the Kingdom through the proclamation of the authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The church was founded in 1978 after Apostle Abisai, then a 22-year-old school teacher, began sharing the Word of God with his learners. What started as weekly prayer meetings at the school soon grew into a vibrant fellowship and was officially established as the Wynandskraal Christian Community Centre (W.C.C.C.).

In 1991, following divine direction through Exodus 15:27, the church was renamed Elim Tabernacle. Today, after handing over the baton to Pastor(s) Jerusalem & Keoratile and relaunching the church, hundreds call Refresh Church their spiritual home, gathering for Sunday Celebration services (Refresh Experiences) in Bosplaas, Hammanskraal.

There is no doubt that God continues to move powerfully among us. We invite you to come and experience for yourself how life-giving and exciting church can be when the focus remains simple — and people are free to pursue God with passion.

Meet Our Founding Pastors

Apostle Abisai & Pastor Joy Ditsele

Over 30 years of faithful ministry.

For more than three decades, Apostle Abisai and Pastor Joy Ditsele shepherded Elim Tabernacle with dedication, wisdom, and apostolic vision. They laid a foundation of prayer, the Word, and community impact that continues to this day.

Their faithful stewardship prepared the way for this new season. In April 2026, they transitioned leadership to Pastors Jerusalem & Keoratile, releasing them with blessing and prayer to carry the torch forward.
